the thin red line

the thin red line hung in the air

wanting to be tasted by a lonesome ear

and then devoured by a lonesome soul

A cloudy wisp floated past obscuring the line for a second

but once this passed the line was clearer than ever

it twisted and struggled with its own identity

until it realized what it wanted to say

“I love you,” it said.

and then it was finally at peace.
